Individuals and their families/caretakers.
Individuals with disabilities and their families are often faced with many obstacles to overcome. We work with individuals to provide critical skills to help them live and work in their community. We serve people from a 16 to retirement age.
“I have found that the staff and participants at Columbus are like a family helping each other to reach their full potential. I needed to feel a sense of trust with the people who were working with someone I love so much. But in no time I was at ease with the staff. It has been fun to get to know the other participants, too.”

Business partners.
We provide a unique opportunity for businesses to “do well by doing good” through our community employment services. We offer businesses contract services such as packaging, assembly, industrial sewing, production line work, and document destruction. We also train and place individuals into competitive jobs in the community.
“I have been working with the Columbus team since 1992. They are hard working, dedicated, and eager to please. They care and have concern about the quality and quantity of work that they do. They are like family and we miss them when they aren’t here. Joe Ham, the Columbus team supervisor, goes the extra mile. He has talent and patience for directing special needs adults.”

The community.
The overall community also benefits from the work Columbus does. Participants in the center’s work programs receive industry standard wages, decreasing their dependence on government services. Individuals working and living in the community also help raise awareness of the contributions people with disabilities are making every day.
“I don’t know what the community or my son, Steven, would have done without Columbus. I think it is wonderful that Steven has had a place to go and to work and to feel needed, and feel that he is contributing to society. He works hard and earns every penny he makes. ”
