8/12/2009 - Daniels Fund Awards Columbus Community Center $10,000 Grant for "Dignity Through Work Scholarship Fund"

(Salt Lake City, Utah)  Columbus Community Center, a local nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities, received a $25,000 Daniels Fund challenge grant to help purchase a handicapped-accessible van. With this challenge grant, Columbus raised an additional $25,000 from local donors, including the Aetna Foundation, the Lang Foundation, Lehman Brothers Bank, the Castle Foundation, Zions Bank, and a number of individuals.

“We are grateful to the many donors in the community who are willing to collaborate in these kinds of efforts. A new van with lift equipment costs around $50,000.  The challenge grant gave Columbus the opportunity to raise additional funds in the community to match the Daniels Fund grant. These partnerships meet so many important needs in our individual communities,” said Stephanie Mackay, Columbus’ director of development.

The Daniels Fund operates the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The Fund was established in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need. Visit www.danielsfund.org for more information.
